Gangster is a film directed by : Anurag Basu, and starring Dev and Chitrangada. The primary shooting is finished and post-production was completed in June 2008. It was released on 25 September 2008 across India.The movie is inspired by the life of the gangster Haji Mastan. The film focuses on a fictional character, Adil "Aadil" Khan (Dev), who travels from Bombay to Calcutta to meet with a movie producer named Shamsher Ali (Zakir Hussain) who has offered him a major role in his next movie. He hires a cab and travels to meet with the producer. Adil is rude and difficult to please, and Shamsher has no idea what to make of him until he finds out that he is an actor. Shamsher tries his best, but Adil's background is such that the only thing he seems to care about is money. Shamsher treats Adil like a kid, and when Adil learns this, he starts treating Shamsher like one too. This proves to be a bone of contention between Shamsher and his wife Tasneem (Zarina Wahab), who sees in this relationship the potential for her husband stepping out on her completely. Adil meets a beautiful girl, Shabnam (Chitrangada), who is running from the police for committing a crime. This encounter changes Adil's life. He starts to see what it means to have a respectable life; he wants to be in love, he wants to make money in the right way. The story is still unfolding in front of us, but what we do know is that Gangster is an action-packed movie with light-hearted humor. The theme of love and honor will play throughout the movie, along with action sequences that are both thrilling and entertaining. This film is loaded with suspense, drama, romance and love. Like other Bengali movies it will have a beautiful storyline, beautiful music and the best of Bengali actors. The movie will be released on 25 September 2008 across India.
